e-Yantra Ideas Competition [eYIC]:
Best Algorithm Design award:
e-Yantra Ideas Competition (eYIC) seeks to identify and nurture potential entrepreneurs in the eYantra Labs that the project has set up throughout the country. Students are invited to submit a proposal to solve a local problem using their e-Yantra lab and after an intense process of selection and vetting, are permitted to go ahead and build the proposed system using their eYantra labs. Following a pre-selection in regional finals this year in Coimbatore, Ernakulum, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Noida, the 18 finalists present their implemented ideas at IIT Bombay on March 23-24, 2018. We are delighted to say that the team of Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering, Bandra with its project Automated Traffic Surveillance System, was one of the 18 finalists in the e-Yantra Ideas competition. This makes our team one of the top 2.83 percent of the contestants. It also won the Best Algorithm Design award.
Most innovative solution award:
This is the fifth year of e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC). For the second consecutive year Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering was declared the winner in most innovative solution award category. The e-Yantra project is sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, under the National Mission for Education through ICT, to provide hands-on learning infrastructure to students who have limited access to labs and mentors. The theme for this year's eYRC is 'Real World problem'. The competitors have to develop indigenous solutions using robotics for crop health monitoring, reaching out under hazardous waste handling and emergency services etc. It aims to make students aware about how technology can be used to solve many problems that we face in our day-to-day lives and also provide a common platform to showcase their talent.
