Mechanical engineering is the discipline that applies engineering physics, engineering mathematics, and materials science principles to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. It is one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering disciplines which emerged as a field in the 18th century during industrial revolution in Europe.
Core areas like Mechanics, Dynamics, Thermo dynamics, Material Science, Structural analysis and Electricity need to be understood for the Mechanical Engineering field. Other tools like computer aided Design, Computer aided Manufacturing and Product life cycle management will further add values to the field.
Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering has 35 years of experience in technical education and has established a legacy in Production Engineering since its inception in 1984. With this rich experience, we are introducing graduate programme in Mechanical Engineering affiliated to University of Mumbai.
The institute also conducts post graduate and doctoral programmes in Mechanical Engineering. The Department of Production Engineering has established a strong rapport with manufacturing industries besides IT companies like Larsen &Toubro, Godrej and Boyce, Siemens, Mahindra and Mahindra, Mercedes Benz, General Mills, Mazgaon Dock, Tata Consultancy Services, Accenture etc., who regularly offer internships and placements to our students. This legacy will be continued by the Department of Mechanical Engineering also. Our students have secured admissions for higher studies in reputed foreign universities like Cornell USA, Georgia Tech USA, Harvard, USA, Delft Netherlands, KTH Sweden etc.

Professional Societies and Student Chapters in Mechanical and Production Engineering domain are SAE, ASME, IIIExCRCE. SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers): SAE is a U.S. based professional engineering society established in 1911 which represents every engineering and scientific discipline. Our vision is to continuously enrich knowledge base of practitioners in mobility industry and institutions in service of humanity. SAE-CRCE established in 2011 aims to enhance student’s formal education and professional development. The SAE-CRCE has been organizing many events since its inception for enhancing the learning experience of students. It is the engineering society for advancing mobility on land, sea, air and space.
ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers): Founded in 1880 by a group of leading industrialists which enables collaboration, knowledge sharing and skills development across all engineering disciplines. ASME CRCE was established in 2011 to promote art, science and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences. ASME CRCE is the only International Production Council in Fr. CRCE. ASME will be instrumental in organizing national and international seminars, competitions and paper presentations.
IIIE (Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering): IIIExCRCE is a student chapter of IIIE, Mumbai started in year 2017. Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE) is a non-profit organization and registered professional body whose headquarters is at Belapur, Navi Mumbai. Under this Chapter, Students can join seminars, workshops, training programs, special lectures, industry visits and other professional activities of Institution.
Institute also has many more interdisciplinary student chapters such as ACM, SME, E-CELL, NSS, TedxCRCE, IEEE, WIE, CSI, ITSA, P-Cell, Codelabs, Mozilla, Mavericks, Rotract, Debsoc and Literary Club.
Technical CompetitionsWe constantly motivate and support our students to participate in various technical competitions. Our students have performed very well in prestigious competitions related to ATVs, Go-Karts, Robotics, Aero, Quad-copter, Hackathons, Idea competitions at national and international levels every year.
- Team Abadha represented Fr. CRCE at the national level competition SAE BAJA wherein engineering students are asked to design, build and fabricate an ATV. This team overall ranked 34th in the nation at Indore in Jan 2019.
- Team Abadha represented Fr. CRCE at the national level competition Mega ETV at Goa and ranked 17th in the nation at Goa in Mar 2019.
- Team CFR participated in racing competition held at Buddh International Circuit, Delhi, India in Coimbatore in Jan 19 and secured 26th position
- Team Avistrota Participated in International Series of KARTING – ISK 2019 at Bangalore organized by international series of Karting. Competition was held on Mar 2019 and team secured 16th position.
- Team Vaayushastra Participated International level competition held at Texas, USA in Mar 2019 and achieved 5th ranking in technical, 9th overall and 13th in Design stage.
Institute encourages and facilitates students to attend summer trainings in order to enhance their skills and gain competitive edge. Internship expo is organized every year. Institute has an experience that companies offer placement for performing candidates.
